I have been a Catholic counselor for over a decade. I have seen what happens when Catholics go without faithful care — or worse, receive care that actively contradicts their faith. These are not edge cases. This is the norm.
"I decided to expand my practice because I didn’t like having to put people on a waitlist, not knowing if they would receive proper care if I referred them out. I have been concerned to find some Catholic counselors not well formed — and promoting practices counter to our Catholic sensibilities."
The threats entering the therapeutic space are real, subtle, and accelerating:

It Started With a Rose

The night before Valentine’s Day at a private Catholic college, a group of students went door to door taping condoms to the women’s dorm rooms. I was disgusted. If I was going to make an impact, I was going to have to go it alone — or so I thought.
I bought 24 roses with my own money and placed one on every other door with a note: “You are worth waiting for.” The following year I brought it to my fellow Knights of Columbus. They funded every door. Because of the Knights, we were able to light a small candle to combat the culture of darkness.
That same spirit drives Catholic HD. I am once again reaching out to the Knights as allies — this time for a new endeavor of Hope, Faith, and reclaiming the therapeutic space where Catholics have always led with the truth of who we are as human beings and how we flourish.
Having been a Catholic counselor for over a decade, I know what’s possible when Faith is given its rightful place in the healing process. I also know how badly it goes when it isn’t.

You may be asking: aren’t there already Catholic counseling options? Yes — and each has a critical gap that Catholic HD was built to close.
Excellent formation — but at $1,497–$2,397 per month for mentorship, it is inaccessible to most families. Catholic HD brings that standard of care to everyone, not just those who can afford premium pricing.
Variable quality with no defined Catholic counseling framework. Some locations are excellent; others offer little that is distinctively Catholic. There is no unified standard of care.
Lots of friction — long waitlists, communication lag, no visibility into whether counselors are truly well-formed. Some even list yoga and practices incompatible with Catholic spirituality. Catholic HD is a vetted network, not a phone book.

A Decade of Catholic Clinical Practice
Catholic HD was born from ten-plus years in the counseling room — seeing firsthand both the transformation that comes from faith-integrated care and the harm caused when Catholic clients receive therapy that undermines their beliefs.
Archangel Catholic Counseling
Established in the Inland Northwest with a radical commitment: clinical excellence and authentic Catholic formation are not in tension — they are inseparable. Every client received both best-practice psychological care and the Church’s full understanding of the human person.
The Waitlist Problem
Demand grew faster than capacity. Rather than refer clients out into an uncertain landscape of poorly formed counselors, we expanded — and built the framework for Catholic HD to solve this nationally.

We are now building the infrastructure to connect Catholic clients across all 50 states with vetted, well-formed Catholic counselors — at scale, with clarity, and with a defined Catholic therapeutic framework.

When Catholics Go Without Faithful Care
These are not hypotheticals. They are composites of real cases seen in Catholic practices across the country. They are happening right now — in your diocese, in your parish, possibly in your own family.
Marriage & Couples Counseling
A couple in conflict sees a therapist who frames the marriage as the problem. Separation is encouraged. The sacramental covenant is never mentioned. She leaves convinced the marriage is over. He leaves feeling his faith was mocked. The marriage ends. The children lose their family.
A counselor trained in attachment science and the Church’s vision of spousal love walks them through real therapeutic work — honoring the sacrament, addressing real wounds, and helping them rebuild what God joined together.
Gender Dysphoria & Identity
A teenage girl experiencing gender dysphoria is immediately affirmed in a male identity. Social transition begins without parental knowledge. The family’s faith is labeled the cause of harm. The underlying trauma is never addressed. A year later she is no closer to peace.
A faithful clinician explores the whole person — biological, psychological, relational, spiritual. Suffering is held with care. The family is included. The underlying wounds are treated. The dignity of the child as created male and female in God’s image is never abandoned.
Family Estrangement
An adult son in therapy is told his parents are toxic. Permanent estrangement is prescribed as healing. The family — imperfect but loving — never gets a chance at reconciliation. His parents grieve as if he died. He never finds the peace he was promised.
A counselor honors the Fourth Commandment and the sacredness of family. Real harm is distinguished from ordinary friction. Reconciliation is pursued wherever possible. The client is held accountable not just to comfort — but to love.
