Catholic Counseling,
Accessible to Every Soul

Catholic HD exists to bring clinically excellent, faithfully grounded counseling to every Catholic in America — forming clients and counselors alike for true flourishing and holiness.

Our Mission

Forming Hearts. Healing Minds.
Reaching Every Catholic.

Across the United States, millions of Catholics navigate anxiety, marriage struggles, family wounds, and identity crises — often without access to a counselor who shares their faith and understands it deeply. Catholic HD was founded to close that gap.

Our mission is threefold: to make Catholic counseling accessible to Catholic clients wherever they are, to form and support Catholic counselors in best-practice clinical excellence, and to orient every therapeutic relationship toward genuine human flourishing and holiness — the end for which each soul is made.

Accessibility

Reaching Catholic clients across all 50 states through telehealth, subsidized care, and a national network of faithful counselors.

Formation

Equipping Catholic counselors with ongoing training, supervision, and a community rooted in the Church’s anthropology of the person.

Flourishing

Integrating sound psychology with the Church’s wisdom so every client moves toward wholeness — body, mind, and soul.

Holiness

Recognizing that healing is not merely the absence of symptoms, but participation in the life of Christ and the fullness of what it means to be human.

Your gift today helps a Catholic family find a counselor who understands their faith — not in spite of it, but because of it.

Our Story

The History of the Practice

Catholic HD did not begin in a boardroom. It began in the counseling room — in the quiet recognition that Catholic clients were being harmed by therapists who did not understand, or actively worked against, their faith.

FOUNDED

The Founding Vision

Archangel Catholic Counseling was established in the Inland Northwest with a simple but radical commitment: clinical excellence and authentic Catholic formation are not in tension — they are complementary. From day one, clients received both best-practice psychological care and the wisdom of the Church’s understanding of the human person.

GROWTH

Building a Team of Faithful Clinicians

Word spread. Clients who had struggled for years to find a counselor who honored their Catholic convictions began arriving. The team grew — not by accident, but by intentional formation. Every clinician who joined committed to ongoing training in both clinical best practice and Catholic anthropology.

TODAY

Catholic HD: A National Movement

Catholic HD is the next step — a telehealth and referral network built to serve Catholics across all 50 states. What began locally is now reaching couples in Georgia, young adults in Texas, and families in Maine who have never before had access to a counselor who truly speaks their language.

VISION

Where We Are Going

Our five-year plan: a fully funded network of 200 Catholic counselors serving all 50 states, a subsidized care fund for families who cannot afford private pay, and a counselor formation program that prepares the next generation of faithful clinicians.

The Potential Impact

What It Looks Like When Every Catholic Is Reached

There are approximately 70 million Catholics in the United States. At any given time, an estimated one in five adults is experiencing a clinically significant mental health challenge. That means 14 million Catholics may be struggling right now — with anxiety, depression, marriage crisis, grief, addiction, or identity — many without access to a counselor who shares their worldview.

The consequences of this gap are not abstract. They show up in divorce rates among Catholic couples. In young people who leave the Church after receiving counseling that contradicted the faith they were raised in. In families torn apart by ideology-driven therapeutic interventions. The stakes could not be higher.

When Catholics receive counseling aligned with faithful teachings and best clinical practice, the outcomes change. Marriages heal. Young people find their identity grounded in Christ. Families are restored. That is the vision Catholic HD is building toward — one counselor, one client, one family at a time.

Why It Matters

When Therapy Gets It Wrong

The therapeutic relationship is sacred — and powerful. In the hands of a counselor who does not understand or respect a client’s Catholic faith, that power can wound rather than heal. These are the patterns we encounter again and again.

Marriage & Couples Counseling

What Harmful Therapy Looks Like

A couple comes seeking help after years of conflict. Their counselor frames the marriage itself as the problem — encouraging separation, redefining commitment as optional, and never once asking about the sacramental covenant the couple made before God. The wife leaves counseling convinced the marriage is over. The husband feels his faith was mocked, not honored.

The Catholic HD Difference

Our counselors understand that Catholic marriage is not merely a social contract but a sacrament — a visible sign of God’s faithful love. Best-practice couples therapy, grounded in attachment science and informed by the Church’s vision of spousal love, can transform even deeply wounded marriages.

Gender Dysphoria & Identity

What Harmful Therapy Looks Like

A teenage girl experiencing gender dysphoria is seen by a school counselor who immediately affirms a male identity, begins social transition without parental consent, and frames the family’s Catholic faith as the source of harm. The parents are shut out. The underlying depression and trauma driving the dysphoria go unaddressed. A year later, she is no closer to healing.

The Catholic HD Difference

Faithful, clinically sound care explores the whole person — the biological, psychological, relational, and spiritual roots of distress. It holds space for suffering without rushing to resolution, and respects the dignity and embodied nature of the person as created male and female in the image of God.

Family Estrangement

What Harmful Therapy Looks Like

An adult son enters individual therapy processing conflict with his parents. His therapist consistently validates every complaint, labels the parents “toxic,” and encourages permanent estrangement as “healing.” The family — which had real wounds but also real love — is never given a chance at reconciliation. His parents grieve as if he has died. He never finds the peace he was promised.

The Catholic HD Difference

Catholic counseling honors the Fourth Commandment and the sacredness of family bonds. It distinguishes between genuine safety concerns and the normal friction of imperfect families, and works toward reconciliation wherever possible — holding clients accountable to love, not just comfort.

These stories are real. They are happening right now — in cities and towns across America where no faithful Catholic counselor is available. You can change that.

You Can Be Part of Something Eternal

Every dollar given to Catholic HD becomes a counselor formed, a marriage restored, a family healed, a soul oriented toward God. This is not just philanthropy — it is apostolate.

Catholic HD is a ministry of Archangel Catholic. All contributions support the expansion of faithful, clinically excellent counseling across the United States.
